Latourell Waterfall | Oregon Elopement Photographers | Elope in Oregon

We were so excited to photograph Cyrus and Mikaela’s elopement wedding photos at Latourell Waterfall in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Oregon has some of the most incredible waterfalls and landscape, and some of them are surprisingly close to Portland. Just a quick 30 mile drive east of Portland, and you will find several waterfalls perfect for an elopement ceremony, engagement photos, or even a backdrop for wedding photography. While some of these areas are currently still being threatened by fire, we are full of hope that the beauty of this area will be restored over time. Thankfully, Cyrus and Mikaela eloped right before the forest fires started. And we were so thrilled to work with some amazing wedding professionals from the Portland area. Cyrus and I met in high school and were friends for about a year before he asked me to help him do his Christmas shopping. I considered this our first date. After that, we hung out all of the time, but were still not officially “boyfriend and girlfriend”. For Valentine’s Day, he gave me an adorable Build-a-Bear (which I still have), and asked me to be his girlfriend. I said YES! I knew right away that he was the one. After 6 and a half years of dating, he popped the question. Here is how it happened. We were feeling adventurous and decided it would be exciting to move somewhere new for a year or two. Cyrus wanted to explore some places first, so I surprised him with a trip to Denver, Colorado for his birthday. He had a surprised planned for me too! Once there, we began exploring the city and while walking through a park, we stopped on a walking bridge to take in the view of the city. We even pointed out some apartments that we could potentially see ourselves living in. That is when he surprised me by dropping to one knee and proposing. It was absolutely perfect!
