Cannon Beach Wedding & Elopement Photographers | Madelyn & Alex

The Oregon Coast has probably the most beautiful coastline on the West Coast making it the perfect spot for wedding, elopement, and engagement photography. Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach brings visitors in from all over the country. It is just the most stunning backdrop! Madelyn and Alex’s one year anniversary marked a milestone in their relationship, and to celebrate, we went out to Cannon Beach for some beautiful sunset photos. As wedding photographers, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day to photograph these two. And we always love and appreciate working with our vendor friends, Jasmine with Blossom & Beauty, and Jeri, with Bella Bloom! They always do such an amazing job. Please visit the links below to view some more of their work. Happy one year anniversary to Madelyn and Alex!!!

Madelyn & Alex – How We Met & The Proposal:

We met at a Hustle and Drone concert at the Doug Fir. Alex’s friend and my best friend were dating, but the two had recently decided to just be friends. They had tickets to this concert that they had purchased while dating and invited Alex and I to make it more of a group thing and act as buffers. Alex and I met and instantly clicked. The two of us basically spent the whole night together and ignored everyone else. We did very little buffing for our friends.

Alex totally surprised me with the proposal! He arranged for my girlfriends to take me wine tasting in Hood River. I was sort of expecting a proposal soon, so I kept thinking he might show up at one of the wineries. We went to three different tasting rooms and by the time we got to the third I had given up on a proposal. My friends and I ‘decided’ to have a sunset picnic at Rowena Crest. When we arrived, there was Alex! He had decorated the path with flameless candles and was standing in front of the most gorgeous sunset view of the Columbia River with wild flowers in bloom everywhere. He got down on one knee to propose, and I was crying the entire time. It was a beautiful moment that we got to share with so many of the people who are most important to us.

Favorite Wedding Day Memories

Alex and I love to go to Silent Disco events. It’s something unique that we have so much fun doing together so we wanted to incorporate it into our wedding. We decided to have a Silent Disco afterparty. If you don’t know what a Silent Disco is, it is where everyone gets a pair of wireless headphones to hear the music to dance to. And if you take off the headphones it’s completely silent.

My favorite memory from the wedding day is seeing Alex at the end of the aisle. I was so nervous to stand in front of all of those people, and I was sure I was going to cry the entire time. But walking toward Alex, all of that went away. I couldn’t stop smiling, and I wasn’t scared anymore. I was just so happy to be marrying Alex. And now, a year later, I am still so happy to be married to Alex, and so excited to spend the rest of our lives together.

Advice For Engaged Couples

Everyone says it, but the best advice I can give is don’t get caught up in the details and miss the big picture. Planning a wedding is hard work. We always want every detail to be perfect. But your wedding day is once in a lifetime and celebrating your love is so much more important than place settings. So on your wedding day take in every moment, let go of your expectations, and don’t worry about perfection. You’ll have way more fun. The second best piece of advice I can give is hire a day of event coordinator or wedding planner! You will not regret it.
