The Reserve Golf Club Wedding | Haley & Tyler

Oregon has some of the most beautiful wedding venues. It makes our job as Wedding Photographers so much fun especially when we get to photograph such sweet couples like Haley and Tyler! Haley and Tyler originally wanted to get married in Sunriver at the Lodge where he proposed to her, but the timing just didn’t quite work out. They felt they found a similar feel when they stumbled across The Reserve Golf Club online. Haley said, “It had such a similar feel and we knew it was the one.” Haley and Tyler wanted to keep their wedding decor simple, beautiful and true to who they are. In the reception area, white draping was installed behind the head table and up above by Geranium Lake. They added lots of greenery as well. Their thoughts were, “We’re pretty easy going and we wanted our wedding to reflect that. We wanted our vibe to be whimsical and airy!”

Tyler and Haley also added a personal touch to their day by bringing Tyler’s ’72 red Blazer. He has been working on this car with his dad since he was 13. They knew a long time ago that they wanted this special car to be the getaway car at the end of the wedding reception. It was also perfect to photograph the two of them with such a cool classic car! One last added touch they had to have was ice cream. Haley says, “Salt & Straw was something I could have only dreamed of having at our wedding. It ended up being the highlight of the night as the ice cream line was longer than the bar line! LOL!”

How We Met (from the bride)

Tyler helped with my parents’ boat loan and he asked about me since he recognized their last name. He found out my grandpa George and his grandpa Roger were longshoreman together and that his dad and my mom grew up across the street from each other.  Tyler then began what he refers to as his “stalking mission”! LOL! He went boating with a friend and thought he’d swing by Haley’s parents boathouse. He was hoping to see me there but when that didn’t happen, he went to Facebook to make contact.

Soon after that we went on our first date. We discovered that we had so many similarities in our lives down to the fact that our parents’ dogs ate boiled chicken off of a paper plate. We started dating after 5 days, said I love you after 10, engaged in 6 months and didn’t spend a day apart for almost a year.

The Proposal

We went to Sunriver, Oregon for my dad’s birthday weekend for skiing. Sunriver is a family favorite vacation spot and we have been going there every year since I was born. While we were there, and it was just the two of us by the grand fireplace, Tyler proposed to me. I was so happy that he had asked to marry me, that I didn’t even look at the ring for almost a half an hour after the proposal. Finally, Tyler asked, “Do you like it? You have to look at the ring!!!” Of course I loved it…I was too happy to even care. We met up with my parents after they finished skiing. That’s when we told them about the proposal!

Favorite Wedding Day Moments

We loved our first look and finally being able to see each other. We’d talked about getting married from the moment we met and it was so crazy to finally be sharing that moment together as bride and groom. Tyler loved the speeches and everyone’s kind words. We both come from emotional families and it was so special seeing all the love in the room for us, our families and friends. We both also love to DANCE. That was the number one thing we wanted to do and do well at our wedding! We wanted everyone to have a good time and dance their booties off!

Advice For Engaged Couples

Be yourselves! Stay true to who you are as a couple. It’s not about the wedding, the decor, or the food. All of that is part of planning but it’s about the person you’re marrying. All of that stuff is just extra. Remember why you’re getting married in the first place.
