Oregon wedding venues are incredibly beautiful. There are some amazing outdoor vineyard wedding venue locations in Oregon, but none are as close to Portland as Oswego Hills Winery in Lake Oswego. It is only about 20 minutes from downtown Portland! The vineyard is family owned, and they make their own wine right on the property. They recently updated their event space and it is perfect for indoor and outdoor weddings (up to 400 people).
Chelsea and Robert planned on having their wedding reception indoors because of how much they love the space, and good thing they did, because we had some unexpected fall-like weather with a bit of wind and rain. Luckily, the weather held out long enough to have their wedding ceremony at the outside altar.
Because they met at The University of Oregon and are such huge U of O Duck football fans, they not only had some of their engagement photos wearing their favorite football jerseys, but their wedding cake topper were the cutest, rubber duckies dressed up like a bride and groom! So cute! We also couldn’t help noticing all the “O’s” that were being hand gestured all day long. Robert and Chelsea told us that their honeymoon was going to start with a quick trip to Texas to watch the season opener. Then, off to Europe!!! Have fun you two, and congratulations again on your marriage! XOXO Jerome & Rebecca
How Did We Meet
We met at the University of Oregon in 2009 during the first football game against Cal. After meeting at the football game, he tried to set me up with his roommate (his best man on our wedding day). The connection with his friend didn’t happen, so Robbie and I started talking. He eventually asked me to dinner and we had such a great time together that we decided to walk together afterwards even though it had started to rain. That is when he asked me to be his girlfriend. And that is the story of how Robbie and Chelsea came to be 🙂
The Proposal
Robbie took me to the Oregon coast one day so we could hang out before I left for a trip to Florida. We spent the day visiting several breweries and just driving around before ending in Cannon Beach. There we walked along the beach at sunset. I just happen to mention that I wouldn’t mind being proposed to at sunset on the beach having no idea what was coming. We were sitting on some driftwood just talking, and he suddenly took my hand and led me closer to the water. There he got down on one knee and proposed. Robbie also surprised me by hiring a photographer to take photos of us during the proposal to capture the moment 🙂
Wedding Details
One of our favorite wedding details was our custom cornhole boards. We had the top of the cornhole boards printed with some of the funny photos of us taken throughout the years. We wanted our wedding guests to get a glimpse into how fun our relationship has been.
Favorite Memories
Besides saying “I do” at the ceremony, our favorite memory from our wedding day was the few moments we had to ourselves before being introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Really, our main goal was for our family and friends to have a good time, be silly and just dance the night away.
